Could you share a bit about your journey in creating the first infrared sauna space dedicated to beauty in Paris and what inspired you to focus on infrared saunas for beauty?

I have always been passionate about beauty and wellness, but this interest intensified during my studies when I had the opportunity to spend a year abroad (6 months in the United States and 6 months in London). It was during this time that I truly discovered the power of nutrition, dietary supplements, and especially the infrared sauna and its numerous benefits. I expanded my knowledge by extensively researching these new avenues for self-care because I suffered from various chronic conditions: acne, migraines, menstrual pains, stress, among others. I needed to reconnect with my body and find natural ways to improve my well-being. Upon returning to Paris, I resumed my studies in finance and worked for 3 years at an auditing firm before finally listening to that little voice inside me that dreamed of entrepreneurship and launching my Belleyme project.

Why did you choose infrared saunas over conventional saunas for your beauty space, and what unique advantages do they offer in the context of beauty and wellness?

I was never a big fan of traditional saunas, although I now understand all their benefits. I struggled with the intense heat and, while I appreciated the post-session effects, I didn't notice any revolutionary benefits. However, with the infrared sauna, I immediately felt its benefits on my skin, stress, and pains—it was almost instantaneous. Additionally, the experience itself leans more towards introspection and relaxation as the sessions last for 30 minutes and the heat is much gentler and bearable. Furthermore, after researching and reading numerous studies on the health benefits of infrared, such as toxin elimination, improved blood circulation, stress reduction, immunity boosting, cell renewal, collagen production, and muscle recovery, I was convinced that such an offering was indispensable in Paris!

How do the benefits of infrared sauna sessions vary between cold and hot seasons, and are there any particular advantages at specific times of the year?

Throughout the year, infrared sauna sessions are beneficial for all the aforementioned benefits. However, here are some examples based on needs: in winter, it's very beneficial for warming up and combating viruses, as well as boosting morale since the body and brain lack sunlight. Also, during seasonal transitions to lighten and reinvigorate the body. During periods of stress, fatigue, or intense physical activity, it's also the right time to engage in sessions. Finally, I'd like to emphasize that although it may seem counterintuitive in summer, it's recommended to continue infrared sauna sessions. The heat help as the body cope with heatwaves and also aids in toxin elimination and soothing the nervous system—this is necessary at any time of the year!

What recommendations do you have for clients preparing for their first infrared sauna session, and how do you suggest they follow up to maximize the benefits?

Come with the intention of doing yourself good because that's exactly what will happen—your body will inevitably feel the benefits according to your current needs. Don't expect significant sweating as it varies among individuals, and during the initial sessions, it's normal to sweat less. Additionally, it's important, in general, to stay well-hydrated throughout the day, especially during infrared sauna sessions. I recommend planning a real moment of rest and a good night's sleep following the session as it can be tiring for the first time.

What positive changes have clients noticed after incorporating infrared sauna sessions into their beauty and wellness routine?

Overall calming of the nervous system, improved skin, less frequent illnesses, and better quality sleep. For individuals suffering from specific conditions such as arthritis, endometriosis, or chronic pain, they feel significant benefits (for those who have incorporated the practice into a regular routine).

Are there any upcoming trends or advancements in infrared sauna technology that excite you, and how do you envision the future of beauty spaces with infrared saunas?

I believe we are at the dawn of the development of infrared technology in the beauty and accessible health field (as this technology has long been used in the medical field), much like LED (red light) therapy. This will become an asset for many beauty centers, and the already advanced technologies will continue to evolve or become more affordable, perhaps in the pricing of machines if it tends to democratize, which would be great! I'm sure that well-being technology will strengthen to address challenging issues, and this excites me a lot :)

Can you share an essential personal ritual apart from the infrared sauna, and how do you integrate it into your own wellness routine?

Recently, I've incorporated drinking warm water on an empty stomach in the morning to aid digestion and detoxify my body. I've also been practicing cold showers in the morning for a long time, which really helps wake up and energize my body. Finding the right type of exercise that suits you is also essential for balance and mental well-being. My latest beauty ritual is using a LED mask.

Since scent is a pillar of The Abi Method, could you share your favorite fragrance and what it reminds you of or how it makes you feel?

A memorable fragrance is the one my mother used when I was a child, which immediately takes me back to childhood and a feeling of security. It's a Serge Lutens perfume that evokes beautiful memories for me. Also, in a more indulgent sense, any fragrance related to cooking, simmering dishes, which also reminds me of Sunday mornings in the family cocoon or more broadly, happy moments of sharing (I love to eat!).

What are your favorite places in Paris that you would recommend to our readers?

I love strolling around Le Marais—it's where I immediately lived when I arrived in Paris, and where I still live 10 years later (even though I've changed streets), and where the Belleyme boutique is located! There are plenty of delicious restaurants like Soma and Mister T, as well as Le Bouillon République for a more casual dining experience! I also enjoy walking along the Seine riverbanks; I regularly run there in the mornings to kickstart my day. Finally, regarding recently tested spas, I loved the facial treatment at My Blend, the massages by Emmanuelle at her Little Biceps institute, and the treatment for beautiful buttocks by Insaf at Studio Fessialiste ;)

To rejuvenate yourself, where do you go?

I leave Paris! Either I go to the ocean in La Baule where my parents have a small apartment and where I spent all my summers at my grandmother's, where I immediately feel at peace. Otherwise, I like to go to my childhood home in Auvergne.

For an escape, what's your dream destination?

I dream of going to Iceland one day, but right now, a week by the sea and in the sun would do me the world of good.
